Jerry Reed died today at the age of 71. He was a Nashville guitar man in the truest sense of the word. However, most folks will remember him for his acting role as trucker Cledus "Snowman" Snow in the 1977 film "Smokey and the Bandit." This was a classic bit of dialogue from the film:
Snowman: "Now, someone's got to pay for all that beer we spilled."
Bandit: "I already worked that out. Leave a note and tell the folks to send the bill to Big Enos Burdette"
Snowman: (talking to himself and writing note) "Send bill to Big Enos Burdette...that's B-R, B-U-R....aw, @$$% I got to go!!!"
of course, who could forget that episode of "Scooby Doo" where he played himself as the owner of the "Grand Ol' Country Music Hall"??? ah, nostalgia! (Bonus points if you remember the song that he performed in the episode that was never heard anywhere else.)
